Situated
at the southern tip of the African continent South Africa is surrounded
by the Atlantic and Indian oceans on three sides. Namibia is to the northwest,
Botswana and Zimbabwe are the northern neighbors, and Mozambique and Swaziland
are to the east. The Kingdom of Lesotho is completely surrounded by South
Africa.
Having a population
of about 45 million people in 1,219,090 km² makes it very spacious
with a low population density; therefore the natural beauties of the
country are still unspoilt.
There are eleven
official languages of which English and Afrikaans are the most common.
South Africa consists
of nine administrative provinces. Pretoria is the administrative capital,
Cape Town the legislative and Boemfontain the judicial. Johannesburg,
the city of gold, is the largest city; Durban and Port Elizabeth are
the other main cities.
| Following the
collapse of “Apartheid” and the democratic elections of 1994 with Nelson Mandela becoming president; South Africa opened up to the world and became a very exciting country to visit; also making a great base to go to African Countries like Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya and many others. |

South Africa
has the richest natural resources per unit area in the world. In
addition to the beautiful climate and all year round tourism; the
geography, landscape, flora and fauna are very diverse; making South
Africa one of the top wildlife countries in the world, and attractive
for several other outdoor activities. |
It is the diversity of races, cultures, colors and nature that makes
South Africa “The Rainbow Nation” or “The World in
one Country”, for you to explore.
